[Quick Tip] Cisco ACI CLI Aliases: Stop Typing Long Names!

Typing long variable names in the Cisco ACI CLI is slow and often leads to manual errors. In this 50-second video, I show you how to use CLI Aliases to create simple shortcuts for your most frequent ACI objects.

Summary

  • The ACI CLI alias is not an ACI feature but a Linux feature inherited from the ACI iBash CLI.
  • Two steps:
    • 1) leaf101# v1=Tenant1:VRF1 << no spaces
    • 2) leaf101# show ip route vrf $v1
  • After the CLI session is closed, the alias will be deleted.
